The Ada County Highway District has been selected to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the agency's current fiscal year budget.

The award is a high honor given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), representing a significant achievement by ACHD.

"It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting," said a press release put out by the GFOA's Technical Services Center. "Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America."

To earn the award, ACHD's budget had to meet high standards in four distinct categories, proving the budget is proficient as a(n) policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device. In those four categories, the budget is also scrutinized in 14 mandatory categories.

In addition to ACHD being recognized as a government agency, the GFOA also personally recognizes individual contributors to the awarded agency's budget. ACHD's Budget Manager Christine Tannler received a certificate of recognition for budget preparation by the association.

"The Ada County Highway District takes the yearly budget process very seriously," said ACHD Director Bruce Wong. "We have been given a great obligation by the local taxpayers to ensure each dollar we spend is done so responsibly, providing the highest quality service to customers at every level. The ACHD team is committed to excellence in all we do, exemplified by Christine's outstanding efforts with our annual budget."

This marks the District's 13th contiguous year receiving the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
