ACHD General Equipment Operators will gather for their annual "Equipment Roadeo" where operators will put their skills to the test.

While normally an internal event, ACHD's Human Resources team would like to invite those who may be considering a career as a General Equipment Operator to the event to learn more about the job and the benefits ACHD offers to employees.

Potential employees will have the chance to see what type of equipment they may operate and witness team members in action as they show off their operator talents. Team members will operate skid steers, truck plows, graders and loaders, completing challenges that require the drivers to maneuver through obstacles and show off their talents in precision driving. The competition will determine ACHD's top drivers, who will then go onto compete at the national level in Colorado.

  • In addition to competitive pay, General Equipment Operators (GEOs) at ACHD are eligible for benefits including: Membership in the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI)
  • 2% 401K Match
  • Paid parental leave
  • Medical, vision and dental insurance
  • Four weeks paid vacation and 12 paid holidays annually

GEOs work a schedule of four 10-hour shifts, either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. The four-day schedule allows crews to spend more time in the field at work and spend more uninterrupted time with their families during the weekend.

The "Equipment Roadeo" will take place Wednesday, April 20 and Thursday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Fairgrounds parking lot at 5610 North Glenwood Street in Garden City. Those interested in applying for a General Equipment Operator position can bring a resume if they have one.
