ADA COUNTY — The Ada County Highway District’s Commuteride program is excited to kick off the last year of Walk Bike & Ride, a community-focused pilot program that encourages residents to explore safe, fun, and alternative transportation options in their neighborhoods.
Fully funded through a Federal Funding Allocation grant from the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS), this three-year initiative brings together local partners and neighborhood residents to highlight the many ways to get around, including walking, biking, riding the bus, sharing a ride, as well as other modes such as scootering and skateboarding. In 2024, the program focused on Boise's Central Bench neighborhood and in 2025, the program was in the Collister and surrounding neighborhoods.
This year, Walk Bike & Ride is centered in the West Bench and Winstead Park neighborhoods. The program collaborates closely with the City of Boise, neighborhood associations, and community partners, including Valley Regional Transit, Safe Routes to School, and Boise Bicycle Project.
Walk Bike & Ride will host a series of free community events this summer at Mountain View Park. Each event focuses on a different way of getting around and includes opportunities to get hands-on experience with new modes of transportation, as well as to learn best practices from local experts through group lessons and one-on-one tips.
Additionally, an interactive scavenger hunt will take place all summer long on the Goosechase app. Each month, new missions drop that guide participants to explore neighborhood infrastructure such as enhanced crosswalks, bike lanes, and multi-use pathways, all while competing for fun prizes including a beach cruiser bike, gift cards, and swag bags.
The program is proud to support the local community and features local artist Ashley Dreyfus, who created custom artwork for the program’s marketing materials, including an illustrated neighborhood map highlighting bike/ped improvements, local businesses, and destinations.

- August 4 – Bike Rodeo with Safe Routes to School & Boise Bicycle Project | 6–8 PM
In late April, residents received a transportation habits survey by mail. Respondents who opted in will receive a free "Get Going Kit" in early June. Each kit includes bike safety gear, including bells, reflective bracelets, and sunglasses, along with a custom neighborhood map featuring highlighted walking and biking paths, and informational resources from community partners.
