ACHD Gears Up for Pothole Days

Post Date:03/27/2026

ADA COUNTY — The Ada County Highway District is once again asking for the public’s help in reporting potholes as part of the agency’s annual Pothole Days campaign. The campaign runs from March 30 through April 3.

As temperatures rise, ACHD maintenance crews are able to begin filling potholes with more durable asphalt. Each spring, crews dedicate a week to repairing potholes that formed over the winter months using longer-lasting materials.

With so many roads to cover, crews need help from residents to find potholes in need of repair. Commuters can report potholes by visiting ACHD’s website. Using ACHD Connect, the District’s reporting system, users can pinpoint the exact pothole location on an interactive map, along with a description of the exact lane. Reports can also include a photo, if it is safe for the reporter to take one.

Members of the public can also report a pothole by calling ACHD at (208) 387-6100. Reports should include the pothole’s location, such as nearby cross streets or landmarks. ACHD maintenance crews strive to respond to pothole reports within one business day, weather and workload permitting.

“With over 5,400 lane miles across Ada County, it’s impossible for crews to find every pothole without the public’s help,” said Tom Otte, ACHD’s Deputy Director of Operations. “Our crews are ready to tackle potholes quickly once reported to keep roads in good condition as we head into spring.”

ACHD reminds the public that the agency can only repair potholes on roadways within its jurisdiction. State highways, such as I-84, Broadway Avenue, and sections of Eagle Road, fall under the jurisdiction of the Idaho Transportation Department. Additionally, ACHD does not maintain private property, including parking lots and private roads.

While the Pothole Days campaign ends on April 3, crews respond year-round to potholes as they are reported. ACHD encourages the public to report potholes whenever they see them to help maintain safe and reliable roadways.
