ADA COUNTY — The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) was recognized at the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) annual Leadership in Motion awards, which honor organizations, individuals and projects demonstrating leadership in advancing goals of Communities in Motion.
This year, ACHD was awarded the Leadership in Collaboration award alongside Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and Ada County Parks and Waterways for the Eckert Road Bridge Emergency Repairs completed earlier this year.
Following the closure of the Eckert Road Bridge in January 2025, ACHD worked in close partnership with ITD, with assistance from Ada County Parks and Waterways to complete emergency repairs to the bridge. The project included repairs to all eight wooden piers supporting the structure. Through coordinated planning and collaboration among the agencies, the bridge reopened on March 10, 2025, just 39 days after the closure.
In addition to the project award, Laine Amoureux, a member of ACHD’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Advisory Committee, was recognized with the Leadership in Practice, Volunteer award. This award honors individuals who demonstrate leadership through dedicated volunteer service in support of transportation planning and policy.
Amoureux was nominated by ACHD staff for her work helping ensure ACHD’s digital public outreach materials are accessible and usable for all community members, supporting more public engagement across the region.
