ADA COUNTY — The Ada County Highway District once again made a strong showing at the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) Leadership in Motion Awards.
ACHD’s Commission President was honored, as was the chair of ACHD’s Pedestrian Advisory Group. The District was also honored to nominate the winner of the nonprofit category.
ACHD Commission President Alexis Pickering earned the Leadership by Example, Elected Official award. Pickering is the youngest ACHD Commission President in history. She has spearheaded efforts to promote a safe transportation system for all users, including supporting ACHD’s Leading Pedestrian Interval initiative. Pickering has served on the ACHD Board of Commissioners since she was elected in 2020.
Joe Jaszewski was recognized with the Leadership in Practice, Volunteer award. Jaszewski is the current chair of ACHD’s Pedestrian Advisory Group, a volunteer position. He is an advocate for walking and biking as an alternative to single-occupancy vehicle commuting.
ACHD nominated WTS of Southwest Idaho, which was recognized with the Leadership in Practice, Nonprofit award. The Southwest Idaho Chapter of WTS is dedicated to the advancement of women in the transportation agency, and provides outreach and networking to support a diverse workforce in the industry.
The award winners were honored at a ceremony at the Nampa Civic Center Monday, where they received their awards.
