BOISE — ACHD Commission President Alexis Pickering was recognized for her work in transportation and public health. She was one several Idaho women honored at the Idaho Business Review’s 2023 Women of the Year ceremony on September 14th.

The awards recognize women, “who are shaping Idaho’s economic and community well-being through their outstanding leadership, mentoring efforts and community involvement,” according to the Idaho Business Review.

This year’s ceremony marked the 18th year of the event, which embraced the theme of “Stronger Together.” 50 women were selected throughout the state of Idaho, and each of them were recognized on stage during the event. At the ceremony, Nikeela Abrams, the partner and founder of Abrams Law PLLC and Idaho Meditation Center, was announced as the Woman of the Year.

“I am honored to be recognized alongside so many accomplished women in Idaho,” said President Pickering. “It is inspiring to be surrounded by women who are committed to making a difference in their communities.”

President Pickering is a public health strategist with Central and Southwest District Health. She was elected to the ACHD Board of Commissioners in 2020. Prior to being elected to the ACHD Commission, Pickering served on transportation committees and workgroups, including the COMPASS Active Transportation Workgroup, Rails and Trails Committee, and the ACHD Pedestrian Advisory Group and served as their Chair from 2017-2019.
