Downtown State St. & 9th St. Reconstruction Projects

The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be constructing improvements to two downtown streets starting this summer: State St. between 16th St. and 2nd St. and 9th St. between State St. and Bannock St.

The purpose of the projects is to replace the aging roadway, increase safety and comfort for those that use State Street and 9th Street, and add green stormwater treatment facilities.

Construction is scheduled to start summer 2022 and continue until early summer 2023.

Project Description

State Street & 16th Street intersection

• Reconstruct intersection
• Replace pedestrian ramps
• Traffic signal work
• Add bioretention curb extensions

State Street, 14th Street to 4th Street

• Reconstruct roadway and all the intersections
• Replace pedestrian ramps
• Traffic signal work
• Add bioretention curb extensions
• Replace sidewalk where necessary

State Street, 14th Street to 12th Street

• Widen roadway to include left turn lanes at 13th Street
• Add enhanced pedestrian crossings at the 14th and 12th street intersections
• To safely accommodate pedestrians, motorists will not be able to make a left turn onto southbound 14th Street or northbound 12th Street from State Street. Motorists will need to proceed one block east or west instead.
• Capital City Development Corporation (CCDC) streetscaping

State Street, east of 4th Street to 2nd Street

• Reconstruct roadway
• Replace pedestrian ramps
• Add bioretention curb extensions

9th Street, State Street to Bannock Street

• Reconstruct roadway
• Replace pedestrian ramps
• Traffic signal work
• Add bioretention curb extensions
• The 9th and Bannock intersection will be completed with another project.
