On Friday, March 16, 2012, Latah Street was reopened to traffic following replacement of the Latah Street bridge. Some additional finish work will occur in the area, however the road is open to traffic.
The Latah Street Bridge, which runs over the North Slough Canal on Boise's Bench was built in approximately the 1950's. The bridge is deficient and will be removed and replaced with this project. Minor sidewalk and asphalt repairs adjacent to the bridge will also be made. The project does not involve widening the bridge or roadway.
A road closure began in early Februaryand ended on March 16, 2012. Depending on weather, sidewalk and asphalt work may occur after the road is re-opened and may require an additional two to three day closure. Possible construction impacts include: general construction noise, large equipment, ground vibration, equipment back up alarms, lane restrictions and flagging.
