"Road Work in the Area" happening this week.
A note about overlay work and
impacts:
Overlay work is typically a quick process, but includes several
steps, some of which can involve, but are not limited to:
- General construction noise
- Ground vibration
- Equipment safety back up alarms
- Dust
- Night work lighting
- Temporary lane restrictions & delays
Many overlay locations are scheduled for night work to occur,
typically between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Performing night work allows construction to occur faster and
under safer conditions for residents, motorists and crews and
reduces the need for lane restrictions or closures.

Twenty five road sections in Ada County will receive a thin lift overlay. These
overlays are funded by $4.32 million in federal stimulus money. The existing
surfaces will be milled (ground) in areas with curb and gutter and at the
beginning and end of the road sections. Hot asphalt mix will then be laid down.
Road sections chosen for thin lift overlays generally have less deterioration
than those selected for a full depth overlay; however other factors like the
number of outdated pedestrian ramps in the area as well as traffic counts are
considered.
Locations: Please note that construction
time frames are approximate and are subject to change.
Unless otherwise noted, work at these
locations is allowed weekdays from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
