Boise - The Ada County Highway District will host a ribbon cutting tomorrow (Tuesday, November 20) at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park in celebration of the completion of the State Street/Veterans Memorial Parkway/36th Street intersection project.
The new intersection includes signalized u-turns; signalized two-state pedestrian crossings; sidewalks, curb and gutter; bike lanes; and bus stops. These improvements will help ease congestion, improve access by enabling drivers to make u-turns near the intersection to reach their intended destination, limit the widening required on State Street, and improve safety by removing conflicts caused by left turns from State Street.
This project began early this year and became substantially complete early last week when ACHD turned on the new signal for the ThrU-turn.
This project is a just one piece of a larger vision for State Street, which is the culmination of input from several local agencies, to create a transit corridor with increased regional, express, and local bus service, and high occupancy vehicle lanes.
