ACHD hosts ribbon cutting for Leadville Bikeway

Boise - Tomorrow (Wednesday, November 14), the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will host a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the Leadville Bikeway Project. The event will be held at 10 a.m. at the Ivy Wild Pool Parking Lot located at 2250 S. Leadville Avenue in Boise.

ACHD Commission President Sara Baker will speak at the event, as will Elaine Clegg, Boise City Council President Pro Tem.

The need for this project was first identified in 2012 with the Southeast Boise Neighborhood Plan. It was a request of the City of Boise in 2016. From concept to construction, this project took only one year to complete.

The new bikeway runs from Linden Street to the Greenbelt. It is the very first entry to the low-stress north-south alternative to riding on Broadway Avenue. The projects includes:

  • Two enhanced crossings at Boise Avenue and Linden Avenue with push buttons that are easily accessible to cyclists.
  • Sharrows
  • Bulb-outs
  • Wayfinding signage
  • Speed humps

This bikeway is just one of several projects ACHD is designing to help make Ada County a more bike-and-pedestrian friendly community.
