Ironman 2014

As a public service, ACHD is providing information on Boise's Ironman event traffic impacts

Event Date: Saturday, June 7, 2014

Over the course of eight hours, participants in Ironman Boise will race through town as they complete a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run in succession. This year’s Ironman Boise Triathlon will start on Saturday, June 7th, 2014 at 12 p.m. beginning at Lucky Peak Reservoir and end in Boise at Julia Davis Park.

More than 1,500 participants are expected for this event. Maps and information about the event are available on the Ironman Boise Web site:

The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is working with Ironman organizers, along with Boise Police, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and others to prepare for the road closures necessary to make the event possible. Citizens not involved in the Ironman event are urged to prepare and take alternate routes. Detour routes will be in place for the closures and drivers should use caution.  Local law enforcement and event volunteers will be stationed along the course and will help residents get in and out of businesses and residences during the event.

Along the cycling course, there will be impacts to areas including Columbia Village, South Eisenman Road, Bown Way, Warm Springs Avenue, Boise Avenue and Bergeson Street and Federal Way where cyclists will be sharing the road with vehicles.
