The Ada County Highway Districts Traffic Department is responsible for planning,
designing and providing efficient traffic flow and traffic safety throughout Ada
County.
The Traffic Department is comprised of the Traffic Engineering Division, the Congestion
Management Division and the Traffic Operations Division. The Department handles
all the traffic-related issues throughout Ada County except those on the State Highway
and Interstate system, which are under the jurisdiction of the Idaho Transportation
Department (ITD). The Traffic Department, by agreement, also maintains all traffic
signals and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) on the ITD system within Ada
County.

- Signing Upgrades and other additional warnings at over 53 rural intersections.
- School Safety Study in Boise City resulting in signing upgrades at seven schools,
initially, and a phase in of signing at other schools over the next few years.
- Larger Street Name signing with block numbers have been placed at many intersections
in Downtown Boise and elsewhere. The Cerebral Palsy Association presented an award
to the District for this activity.
- Major Studies Begun: State Street from State Highway 55 to 23rd Street, 30th Street
from State Street to Main Street, Victory Road from Maple Grove Road to Cole Road
and the Overland Road/State Highway 69 intersection improvement study.
